Quick take: Is McCarthy's downfall in progress?

In the world of comedy, this happened.  House Republicans were planning a symbolic vote on a bill that would have blocked Biden from issuing regulations that would ban gas stoves, because everything is a culture war issue.  Gas or electric?  Stoves, not capital punishment, for which firing squad is clearly the optimal choice.  On the indoor cooking issue, your answer should tell me your position on taxes, abortion, and drag shows for tots where this happens.  That's just logic.  Anyway, is Biden going to issue a regulation about gas stoves in new homes?  Fuck if I know, but if Commie McOldster is agin' 'em, we're f'r 'em.  Hence, the Republicans in the House were getting ready to pass a symbolic bill that would have blocked any potential new regulation, but since they don't control the Senate, and Biden isn't so senile as to have forgotten how to work a veto pen, this is just what David Mayhew called a "position-taking" vote in Congress: The Electoral Connection.  Also known as, a silly waste of time by people who should have something better to do, but don't because they are fundamentally silly people.  Anywho, McCarthy was getting ready to pass this silly, position-taking bill, but a group of Freedom Caucasians (I can't be the first one to type that, can I?) decided to get back at McCarthy for raising the debt ceiling by scuttling the bill.

Which they liked.

Because they hate Biden.

Making it pointless all around.

So what happened?  Basically nothing, but an interesting nothing, as opposed to a boring nothing.  Why?  Because the Freedom Caucasians actually did something.  Sort of.  To the degree that putting the kielbasa kibosh on a symbolic bill with no chance of doing anything anyway counts as doing something, but hey, it's not like the alternative for them was something.  It was just a different nothing.  Ultimately, what they did was annoy McCarthy and announce their intention to do, um... sorta something?  Point being, they plan to use their votes to... well, some end.

Why firing squad?  Those idiots will just shoot themselves in the foot, and you get to walk away.

Of course, nobody forced a motion to vacate, so there's that, but call it a warning shot.  Of course, they hit their own feet, so that's not much of a warning, is it?  Don Young's warning shot to Boehner was an actual, fucking knife to the throat, so let's all hope they remain as historically ignorant as they are.

Regardless, hey Kev'!  This was the job you wanted, right?  Have fun!
