Quick take: The Adam Schiff censure, and the Democratic response
It should go without saying that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) did precisely nothing wrong related to the impeachment of Donald Trump, and the idea of censuring him-- meaningless though it ultimately is-- shows the deterioration of the Republican Party. It should go without saying, but since we now live in-- yes, I'll say it-- clown world, one must say it. Then there is the Democratic response. Chanting, "shame!" This is a thing they do. A lot. Have you noticed this? They like to chant, "shame!" Actually, the left likes to chant lots of things. There are certain catechisms that they chant depending on the policy, in lieu of logic or argumentation, but generally speaking, as The Simpsons taught us, everyone loves a droning, repetitive chant ("the leader is good, the leader is great, we surrender our will, as of this date"... wait, which party was this? um...). Regardless, I abhor chants. Whom are you impressing, or even "shaming" by chanting, "shame?" Do you think that the Movementarians care? Do you think that they are going home and crying in their pillows and wallowing in shame because you did your droning, repetitive chant of "shame?" Their leader is good. Their leader is great. They surrendered their wills, long ago, along with all shame. They do not care.
There is a wonderful tuning on the guitar, associated with my generation. Yes, I'm talkin' 'bout my generation. It is called "drop D." Standard tuning on a six-string is E A D G B E, from low to high. Drop D tuning means dropping the low E string down to D. Most grunge bands did it, Adam Jones from Tool uses it, and if you don't use drop D tuning, you are not of my generation.
Be grunge. Drop that E.
This whole thing was a sham.
OK, I suppose if I were being true to drop D, that would have turned it into "shamd," which doesn't really work, but then I couldn't lecture you on guitar tunings. What, I'm just supposed to write about politics? Bor-ring!
Anyway, given that the censure vote was a sham, why show up? Instead of shouting like children, don't be there. Instead, hold a press conference and remind everyone that the first impeachment was about a phone call in which Donald Trump tried to extort political-electoral favors out of Zelenskyy while withholding military support granted by Congress. Remember Zelenskyy? The guy whose country was invaded by Trump's lord and master, Vladimir Putin? Yes, that call was about Trump trying to withhold military aid from Zelenskyy to get Zelenskyy to announce an investigation of Biden to help Trump in the 2020 campaign. The "perfect" phone call. Sure. Y'all want to keep talking about that while Putin commits war crime after war crime in Ukraine?
Instead of droning, repetitive chants, go remind everyone of what Trump did, and show the images of the war crimes. Hold press conferences. Put up adds.
Make an argument.
But chanting? Chanting? Really?
Janis.
