Brief comments on the Cheney ad
In case anyone has not actually seen it (really?), here.
So obviously, that was brutal. In technical terms, it was a Dick move, and what, I'm just supposed to let that hang there? Anyway, moving on, a few comments. Dude, the look. He could have taken out al-Zawahiri with the intensity of that look alone, and he's calling Trump the greatest threat.
Donald Trump has supported calls for the murder of his own Vice President. The previous Republican Vice President has called him the greatest threat in the history of the republic, a liar, the leader of a violent attempt at a coup... Damn.
It is worth noting how many of Trump's former cabinet members and advisors have said that he is unfit for any office.
Yet this is all known. My observation is the distressing fact that none of this can make a dent in Trump's cult.
The cult that makes common cause with Viktor Orban and similar authoritarians.
Which means that whatever you think of that gigantic Dick up there? That Dick never tried to overthrow democracy. That Dick is taking a swing at Trump.
For democracy.
If you believe in democracy, you see that Dick up there? You extend your hand to that Dick, and you give Dick a good shake. A firm, manly shake.
What?! His name is Dick! I didn't name him, and I didn't tell him to go by the nickname, Dick!
Anyway, there are two teams: Team Democracy, and Team Autocracy. Dick is on Team Democracy. If you want democracy to have even a sliver of a chance, you need Dick.
And obviously, Liz, but she's probably going to lose.
Her concession speech will likely contain comments about the importance of accepting the results, not making up lies about fraud, direct stabs at Trump, and her next moves, which she almost certainly has planned out.
Democracy is hanging by a thread. If you want it to have a chance, deal with the fact that you need to make common cause with people you don't like.
