Quick take: Pelosi's decision to block Jim Jordan from the January 6 Committee

Speaker Pelosi has made an interesting move.  She won't let Rep. Jim Jordan (R- Sexual Assault Cover-ups OH, no, never mind, I was right the first time) onto the January 6 Committee.  Also, some dude named Jim Banks, but who the fuck is he?  There's a "Jim Banks" in Congress?  I study Congress.  I've written two books on Congress, and I didn't know that.  Fuck.  Whatever.  Anyway, the child molestation cover-up dude won't be running his fast-taking, Fox News clip-making act on the January 6 Committee.  Well, that's a bold move!

A good move?

Um... well, let's be clear about where things stand.

What's the goal here?

We know where the Republican Party is on January 6, and any matter relating to Donald Trump, unless their names are "Liz Cheney," or, "Adam Kinzinger."  Their positions are, "just tell me what to say, Mr. Trump, sir."  Also, "feel free to rape and murder my children if it pleases you, oh lord, my god, Mr. Trump, sir."

So what happens if Jordan is on the Committee?  It's a shitshow.  Why?  Have you watched that asshole?  His goal is to concoct an alternate reality where Pelosi planned and staged the whole thing as a false flag operation.  They're about half-way there to that story now.  Take Jordan off?  It's all a sham!

So either way, as far as Republicans are concerned, they're going to get a load of shit.  So, there's no reaching them.  All prosecutorial decisions are handled through DoJ.

Anything else is basically for the historical record, understanding that Republicans, today, in the modern world, are unreachable by facts.  From that perspective, does it matter whether or not Jordan is there doing his thing?  As a fan of blessed quiet, I'd rather he be confined to some other quarters elsewhere, and it probably helps the proceedings in some sense.  To the degree that anyone cares about the historical record, Jordan's exclusion will make sense.  He is a lying asshole, and like Liz Cheney supposedly said, he shares responsibility for January 6 anyway, so having him on the Committee... no.  An objective scholar looking back would say, yeah, that dude shouldn't have been anywhere near the Committee.  It would have been like putting Frank Nitti on Ness's team investigating Capone.

If... Capone were a complete nincompoop.  And Nitti's primary crimes involved covering up sexual abuse of kids.

Anyway, the basic point is that this probably doesn't matter.  Why not?  Democracy is fucked anyway, and Frank Nitti still has his seat in Congress.  Those tax evasion charges?  Capone ain't goin' down this time.
